now we’re getting into new territory! fellow metalworker shane (www.bostonbiker.org) carved up some H samples out of some stainless sheet i had laying around, and the result is looking awesome. this will probably be even more radical when it’s all polished up. very excited to get this bridge on the frame.

just looking at the floor the other day- what a mess! there’s a lot of sandpaper and… well, mostly just sandpaper that goes into finishing up a bike frame. especially when that frame has stainless lugs and an integrated rack with about fourteen extra intersections to clean up. it takes a long time to use this much sandpaper as well, so, in a sense, this pile is a patience...

well i said i’d be done when i could see my reflection in the fork crown. looks like i’m done! i really expected this process to end in blistered hands and a freakout meltdown, but it wasn’t all that bad.

northeastern exposure
nothing like looking square in the face of a frigid weekend in boston and realizing that, really, things would be a whole lot better with fifteen less degrees and three more feet of snow. thankfully, portland, maine could offer both! we took our bikes outside the city for a ride to the lighthouse. the wind was brutal, but no one was out, so we got uninterrupted views and could basically pee...

i'll be your mirror
working on polishing some stainless lugs. this photo was taken after three hours of working through the grits to 1000. this is truly going to be a dfp week. i hope my fingers are up for it! i think it will look really sharp though. the frame’s going to be black, so they should really pop.
